ALBANIA / NORTH ALBANIA / THETH

Discover Theth

Heart of the Accursed Mountains

Glacial alpine valleys, isolated stone lock-in towers (kulla), and legendary hiking trails through Europe’s last great mountain wilderness.

What kind of city survives 2,400 years without losing its character?

Dhërmi is one of the oldest continuously inhabited villages on the Albanian Riviera, combining a historic hilltop settlement with one of the country’s most beautiful coastlines.

WHY VISIT THETH

Untouched alpine grandeur and living highland heritage

Hidden deep within a limestone amphitheater in the Albanian Alps, Theth is a secluded highland valley where century-old stone houses dot wildflower meadows.

Here, crystal-clear glacial streams feed deep blue springs, and ancient customs of hospitality are practiced with timeless warmth.

Practical Information for traveling to the region

Berat sits 122 km south of Tirana's Nënë Tereza International Airport (TIA). The drive takes 1 hour 30 minutes via the SH72. Furgon minibuses depart Tirana's Kombinat bus terminal from 06:00, running every 30–60 minutes until mid-afternoon (approx. 600 ALL, 2 hours). We recommend arriving by car or private transfer for maximum flexibility around the city's hillside quarters.
